My name is Kyle D., and I moved into Antebellum James Burgess on July 5th of this year. I want to take this opportunity to give you some feedback on your facility and management staff. These opinions and observations of my time here are unsolicited by anyone. They are mine totally.
First, I believe your facility here is first class. The building and grounds are well maintained and are kept nice in appearance and function. It is a home where we can proudly have visitors and family. The painting project that is going on now only enhances the beauty inside. This facility feels like and is home to me. That, in large part, is due to Shana and her staff.
This is the area I would like to offer feedback now. While I just have a basic idea of all their [staff] job duties, it is the other details that get my attention. All of them jump in to help when things are extremely busy here. Things such as helping serve the plates at mealtime, assisting individuals with personal issues, and even to the point of grabbing a vacuum cleaner when needed.
In a lot of ways, we as older people are worse than running a daycare facility for children. We vocally complain more about everything, any chance we get to complain. Shana and her staff: Jamie, April, Sharon, Kanita, and DeWayne have always treated me and (others that I’ve seen) with the utmost respect. They keep things positive and friendly. I personally believe this is due to Shana’s leadership skills and management style. She has put in place an excellent team of people, which all have helped me personally.
Jamie has answered all business-related questions I have asked, as well as recommends good restaurants that deliver if I’m in the mood for something special.
April has a lot of activities for us to do. Things such as painting, clay modeling, bingo, and card games as well as other things. She has run errands after work to help several of us when we could not get it done otherwise. We also have a weekly bus trip to Walmart and a Friday lunch trip.
Sharon makes sure we have the medicines we are supposed to have and that we take them in a timely manner. She follows up with the Doctor if we feel we need to change anything. Sometimes that is just getting the time we take medicine to make sense.
Kanita has solicited information for many people about meals. What they like and don’t like; how can they make our dining time better for us. She has also asked what foods we want to be served if given the chance. She and April recently had a cooking with Kanita activity for us, where we made mud pies.
DeWayne has been able to address several small problems for me. Fixing an electrical problem, a toilet seat problem and setting up the TV. He is very knowledgable in many areas and shares with us tips on gardening or how to build things.
I know this is long, but there are many more things I could write. I try to thank them for the many things they do, but that does not seem like enough. Please express my gratitude to Shana and her staff for all they have done to create my new home.
Thanks in advance.
